That's a question for the professionals who are treating you bakers. Keeping fingers crossed all will be well.

Thanks blakeyc. The problem is that my G.P. can't authorise a scan(which is the only way of knowing for sure if the clots have gone)and the hospital have discharged me.My G.P. wrote to the hospital over a month ago but as of yesterday they hadn't replied.

Thanks Blakeyc The problem is that the hospital don't want to know as I was discharged, and my G.P.doesn't have the authority to request a scan which is the only way of finding out if they have gone. He has written to the the hospital over a month ago but they haven't replied.

I would keep asking the GP to chase them up. You can also write to the Chief Executive at your Hospital or go through PALS, you have the right to follow up care no question. Ask your GP for a copy of the letter he sent, so you can include a copy to the CE or PALS and keep a copy for yourself of that letter and any you send yourself.

Take good care and hope you get a result soon.

Hello Bakers

In the last four years I have had four DVTs and four PEs.

Because I have had so many I am on Warfarin for life.

I did not have scans to find out if the blood clots had gone from my lungs - I had X-rays. I think that if anything nasty had been happening I would have been referred for a scan.

Are you breathing more easily? Breathing more easily means that the Warfarin is working.

As Blakey said, take very good care of yourself and if you are really worried and your breathing gets worse go to A&E.

Best wishes

Love and hugs

Who has authorised the withdrawal of the warfarin bakers? After my PE and hospital admission I had a discussion with the consultant and he gave me the option of stopping or continuing the treatment. As I had no major issues with warfarin I chose to keep it going and my INR is now steady at approx 2.4 and rarely deviates, and is monitored by a quarterly finger prick test which takes no more than five minutes. Once you've had blood clots then you will likely continue to be vulnerable in future but as ever the choice is personal. I've been on warfarin for 11 years (8mcg/day) but apart from the hassle of shaving I'll put up with the minor inconvenience.

Hi warwickstag. When I left hospital in January my Anticoagulant therapy card stated that I would be on warfarin for six months. I understand from the receptionist at my doctors, that the hospital wrote to them last week saying to stop the warfarin on the 8th July. I also found out this morning when the secretary at my G.P's rang That they have now written to the hospital requesting that I have a scan before stopping the warfarin. Will be having blood testedv tomorrow for levels last time it was 2.9 but that was on the 11th June.
