Hi

I think you should speak to your GP as soon as possible, as there could be multiple causes.

I agree with Vicky, donnaw. Your GP should explain to you what is causing this discomfort.

The pain that you describe is something I've experienced on and off for the past 13 years and my gp and respiratory consultant have assured me that it's just my lungs telling me to slow down and accept that I can't do things at the same pace now as I used to. Maybe it'll be that for you too, but best to check just to be on the safe side :)

I agree it could be one of several things best to get it checked out at GP.

Best wishes

hi Donnaw i have end stage IPF and have this pain costantly, of course you must get it checked by your doctor or hospital consultant but mine is due to the stress being put on the muscles in the back surrounding the lungs as coughing puts a massive strain on these muscles and low blood oxygen levels deteriorate muscle tissue. since having my illness (just under 12 months) i have lost almost 5 st in weight and half of that was muscle, i am 6ft 2 and used to be in the gym powerlifting 3 times a week now i can just about carry my portable oxygen tank!

get it checked and take care of yourself

Hi Donnaw,

I have the pain you describe too. I am quite new to copd and it didn't occur to me that the pain in my back, around and under my shoulders and around the back of my neck could be related to copd. It is starting to pull me down a little bit because it's either a constant pain or a burning sensation. I took some Ibufrofen just minutes before seeing your post! It's on my list of things to discuss with the GP tomorrow. Perhaps you need to see your GP too x
