i think it does, your body is changing and your hormones are dancing all over the place,

i have always been able to cope with anything that comes my way and tend to be very private about it but i find that i just have not been too good at coping lately, and i really believe that its down to a mixture of the menopause and the COPD and things ( like the depression) related to it!!

Just remember Jackie, us old gals are usually strong and independent so i spose we are allowed to be tired and depressed sometimes!!!! :)

Hi Jackie, I hit the menopause before COPD hit me, but I would think the two together might not help symptoms of either. I get depressed even now and the odd tired days but as Krazy says why shouldn't we have our off days. (There is a spider walking over my screen)

I had menopause first. I am on HRT and that helps a lot. I will have to come off it in the spring as I will have had it for 5 years but it has been great. The best time to have it is between age 50 and 60, but only for 5 years. After age 60 , or over 5 years and the risks outweigh the benefits.

Hi Jackie I have been through the menopause and finished before my COPD diagnosis. But I do know that whatever your problems the change of life makes it seem worse. I had HRT which was a lifesaver. When I first asked the doctor for it I said Iwas getting hot flushes and nightsweats. He said - anxiety and depression too? I said OMG yes!

But unlike a diagnosis of COPD the menopause does end eventually...and you can wear white trousers again lol :)

Well thats funny you should say that but I was reading last week that the menstrual cycle does affect COPD sufferers quite badly and at various "hormonal" times breathing is worse than it should be. My doctor has just advised trying to drink a glass of soya milk a day for a month to see if my symptoms improve - only just started. Good luck TAD xx
